Campeonato, di Calcio, Italiano: Episodio Tre

Boungiorno and welcome back to our regular jaunt through Serie A in the 1990s via Championship Manager 97-98. If you need to catch up on the most recent exploits of my Juventus team then click here

After our victory over Fiorentina in our last league outing, we're on the plane to Sweden as we prepare to face IFK Gothenburg in an attempt to kick-start our Champions League campaign. Thankfully we return to Italy with all three points following Didier Deschamps heading us to a hard fought 1-0 win.

Following our European exploits, we're back to league action as we welcome Lecce to the Delle Alpi. We're not at the races and we struggle to break down our belligerent visitors who only manage one shot on goal, although they do manage to get it on target and take the lead with it. Despite Lecce going down to ten men, we're only able to come away with a point when Alessandro Del Piero heads us level.

There's very nearly cause for embarrassment when Angelo Peruzzi scores an almost comical own goal in our next outing, an away trip to Bari. Thankfully, Corentin Martins caps his full debut for the club by levelling affairs shortly after the o.g before Del Piero nabs what proves to be the winner with three minutes left of the first half.

We close this instalment by welcoming Brescia to Turin. A good start is imperative, especially as we're boosted by the return of a number of our main players. Daniel Fonseca gives us a dream start by notching inside the first ten minutes and although we let ourselves down by conceding a 16th minute equaliser, left-back Dimas pops up to net the decisive goal just two minutes later.

Not much progress in terms of ascending the league table as we end the month in seventh place, the draw to Lecce has dealt a significant blow to our hopes of breaking into the upper echelons of the Serie A table although I'm happy we're in a commanding position in the Champions League.

See you next Sunday, Ciao For Now!
